Happy belated New Year! Welcome to 2020! I have lots of exciting things for you this year, and I look forward to our little community in this little corner of SimLit. This is a long overdue update (due to illness, injury, work-related things, and other obligations).
First, some offline updates. For a little over a year now, I’ve been helping to run a D&D campaign with my husband as we introduce some teens to roleplaying. It’s been a fun learning experience as our home grows loud and chaotic, but we enjoy the food and fellowship, and we’ve fallen into inadvertent mentoring. One of the girls was inspired to start her own D&D session with another group of friends. Two of the kids come from fairly sad home lives, and they love being in our house and around adults who care about them. Honestly, it’s an honor to be a strong, loving presence in their lives.
Second, I’ve picked up some extra work responsibilities – which means – careful prioritizing, more money (yay!), more nights and weekends and strange week day hours, and less time with my husband. Because of that, I try to spend as much time with him on our free evenings so that leaves less time for Sims in general. I haven’t abandoned writing though, or gaming, I promise.
My 2020 SimLit Writing
Plan… eh GUIDELINES
Here are my thoughts for the many, many, many stories I have for you. I may or may not stick to this schedule depending upon external factors and inspiration, but I wanted to have some general guidelines so you know what to expect. If you don’t know what the story is, click on the link to learn more or inquire in the comments below.
Introvert’s Guide to the World – I’m actually really excited about the Tiny Living expansion. I think the challenge would be perfect for my introvert protagonist, Aspen Beckett, living in Forgotten Hollow. My plan is to play some of the challenge and post updates soon. Stay tuned for pictures of Aspen’s tiny home! 🙂 Resuming February 2020.
Krazy Crazy Life of Kassiopeia Fullbright (KCLKF) – I started the rewrite journey in March 2018. My goal is to complete the rewrite by the end of March 2020. I’m ready to move along to the next parts of Kass’ journey… which brings me to my next announcement.
Resuming Monday, January 27th.
#2 Kassiopeia Fullbright and The Curse of the Wishing Well (KFCWW)- Originally, I planned to write a mystery series with Kass’ story. The first version took a different, but interesting detour (a bit more slice-of-life). I’m planning to rewrite Interludes with more mystery elements, but much of the content will stay the same (including the Lucky Palms setting). Cover art coming soon. Coming Summer 2020.
From Riverview, With Love (FRWL) – As Gage Briody’s story and Kass’s story intersect, Gage will naturally get some updates. I’m not planning to complete a full re-write, more of a face-lift to stay true to the canon I’ve created in the second edition of KCLKF. Coming Summer 2020.
La Vita Bella – Ah! The Goth family curse! That’s what I’ll blame this disaster of a story on. Eek! Yes, I feel like I didn’t handle LVB well the first time around. Since then, I’ve also revised some canon for related stories and my Sims universe, so Bella Bachelor Goth deserves a rewrite. Much of the bones of her story will remain the same, but I’m planning to expand her story, change some of the settings, develop characters more deeply, align with my current lore/canon, and include vignettes from Mortimer’s point-of-view. Also, I have written (and I haven’t published due to TS3 difficulties) backstory for Jocasta and her family. I thought about releasing at Christmastime last year, but it just didn’t happen due to illness and the holidays.
Returning Winter/Spring 2020.
Bachelor and Bachelorette: Sulani Style: I am so behind on this! *sigh* It’s also limited by voting in the community so I can’t play too far past the Day 3 stage. As much as I don’t want to drag things out, I think I might need to put things off until summer. Thank you to all of you who submitted Sims and invested in the story thus far. Resuming Summer 2020.
I Have Never – I love all my stories, but this is such an interesting premise and journey for me. I’m not an elder, but I have parents/in-laws and friends who are considered Elders by Sims standards. There’s so much diversity among the elders in my life, and I cherish them dearly. I love the idea of an elder protagonist. Elders are often overlooked in game, and I like the challenge of breaking stereotypes. I plan to use I Have Never to celebrate seasoned Sims and explore aspects of the game I’ve never tried or played. Whimsical Updates in 2020.
Colt Family Traitacy – The more I’ve played TS3 again, the more I want to revisit the Colt-Racket family. My goal is to jump ahead 14 years so little Hope will be 18 and Ernest will be 15. I’m not ready to leave Shark and Lolly behind so they will get some story also. My plan is to have a World Adventures focus – with traits, careers, items, worlds, etc. from that expansion. I’ll be sending Lolly to Champs les Sims, Shark to Al Simhara, and Hope/Ernest (the official heirs) to Shang Simla. Returning Fall 2020.
Only the Good Die Young – Fall seems like the perfect time to resume this little challenge. There’s something about vampires (pyres) and the Reaper family around Halloween. 😉 Resuming October 2020.
Home for the Holidays – What better time than the finish the year with H4TH! Returning December 2020 (or perhaps Thanksgiving weekend/end of November for those of you who aren’t in the US).
Return to Brindleton Bay – Carrie Buckley is getting a spin-off. I announced this fact awhile ago, and unfortunately, I have not been able to write or play her story. I hope to return with her tale very soon. Learn more about my gameplay restrictions and the challenge/story.
Debuting Winter/Spring 2020.
LASL: Side Tracks – Given the enormous cast of LASL, I am doing my best to write updates for each of the families before moving along to LASL Gen 2. I do have multiple updates for you coming soon! Below are some things to expect! Resuming Winter 2020.
StrangervilleStrangetown Side Tracks – featuring the Tea-Cats family!
- Jungle Adventures Side Tracks – featuring Munter, John, and Karleen!
- Outdoor Retreat Side Tracks – featuring #RikiraForever!
And now… the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the reveal of the Livin’ A Simmin’ Life, Gen 2 heir…
Parker Sophia Simself! It was a close vote with two of the triplets tied for first, until #therealkarleen voted. 😉 Parker will be the next generation’s official heir and will keep the Green family name. Don’t despair if you voted for the other two boys. Both Joey and Nate will be featured in the stories as well. More coming soon!
